Charleston Lesson
Did some solo Charleston moves. Around the world, finger wag, a sweeping kick thing into some quick leg switches.
Partner Charleston was some cool moves, but they are tricky to do and I would not be able to lead them so it would require the follow knowing the moves.
The first was interlocking arms when back to back and the lead leaning forward and the follow cycling her legs...

Lesson
Swivels for the follows, then switches from a swing out
A kind of ‘hen pecking’ move. Started like a tuck turn, then into face-off position, then you peck your head on 5&6 and you finish of the rotation, back to basic.

It was nice and quiet because I guess most people were out on dates and stuff. Danced with a lot of newbies, trying to encourage them along :)

Lesson:
Today was side by side Charleston again. We did ‘closing the book’ so you end up perpendicular to where you started and using momentum to swing the free foot around.
We also did a quick stop on beat 6 of side by side charleston.
We added some hip switch things like changing stances on a surfboard/skateboard
Then we did some jumping spin thing using the hip switches to...
Tuesday 7th Feb
Lesson:
We did stealing follows from swingouts, one on 3&4 and another on 5&6. I do not think I will ever use this as it seems a bit mean. Maybe in birthday dances or whatever.
Monday 6th Feb
Lesson
Linear Sugar pushes and getting a good amount of compression and stretch into them. They were different to how I have been taught sugar pushes in the past so I was confused at first. Also I need to work on rock stepping in different directions than backwards, I guess I am lazy and haven’t worked on that.
A sugar push into a wrap using a turn for the follow so their arms end up...

Dancing is super fun
I will never pay £2 for a tiny glass of coke
The veteran(?) follows are saying I am starting to get good and it is spooking me out a little bit.

The lesson tonight was on side by side Charleston variations. I have been wanting to learn more moves in this so it was good, but they taught a lot of moves in such a short space of time that I don’t know much I took in. It was fun though.
During the social dancing I was trying to relax, have more fun and also to concentrate on the follow more and I think that went well. I seemed to enjoy...

Wednesday 25th Jan
Went to a Charleston lesson.
It was all a bit rushed but now I know how to get the foot rotation when doing Charleston basic, just need to practice it.
Could maybe work some of the steps into Lindy open position.
Sweated a lot. Didn’t take spare shirt. Oops.
Tuesday 24th Jan
Lesson:
Replacing the second triple step in basic with a dip.
Replacing both triple steps in basic with dips (feels more like blues dancing)
Doing lindy circles and swing outs with dips instead of the second set of triple steps
Circles and swing outs with just dips, no triple steps
Social:
Use more counter-balance to get better swing outs
Don’t get the soles of my shoes wet, they go...
Monday 23rd Jan
Suzie Q
Getting into a side to side position from a Texas Tommy, changing the leads footwork to not disrupt the follows
Doing the Suzie Q from the side to side position.
Doing the Suzie Q as a switch for the follow
Sunday 22nd Jan
Getting a nice feeling into the triple steps
Stretch and Compression
A little shimmy thing in open position
Groove Walking and how to lead it properly
Face to Face charleston, how to get into/out of and turns for leader and follow

I am going to use this blog as a journal to keep track of what I learn and what I am taught at lessons cause a lot of the time I forget :) Here is a little bit about me:
I have been dancing lead for 4 months now, lindy is my first type of dance. I am starting to feel like I can start to string a dance together now. I like dancing and it is fun and I guess it keeps me fit and you get to meet...
